Spunk Ransom...

Ok I've had to explain this to a few people now... I realised that not everyone would know what it means when a friend of mine told me that she was thinking of changing her screen name to "spunk lover" and I had to explain why that wasn't such a good idea. ;)

I wanted to make sure that everyone knows what "spunk" can mean...

Spunk = vulgar slang for semen

Saying that someone "has spunk" (as in courage or spirit) is mainly an old fashioned American term and probably what most people would think of. However, being from England, the other definition is used more often.

Robert Pattinson, being British himself, must also be very aware of this definition. ;)

I put it behind a cut just in case anyone takes offense really easily.

Panopticon

I'm doing exam revision on the Panopticon today -

The Panopticon is a type of prison building designed by English philosopher Jeremy Bentham in 1785. The concept of the design is to allow an observer to observe (-opticon) all (pan-) prisoners without the prisoners being able to tell whether they are being watched, thereby conveying what one architect has called the "sentiment of an invisible omniscience."

Jeremy Bentham also had written into his Will that his body be preserved, stored in a cabinet and brought out for special board meetings. They termed this his 'auto-icon.' Then one day his head, which was not preserved well…fell off. So they made a wax one.

The creepy thing is that I had never noticed his real head staring at me from the bottom of his feet until a few minutes ago! :O

My Review: I liked Breaking Dawn, BUT...

Firstly, I want to point out that I enjoyed reading Breaking Dawn and thought that the book was good. However, it could have been brilliant if Stephenie had more of an insight into what the teen fans actually want to read in the book. I thought she did before I read Breaking Dawn, but while reading it, I realised that she doesn't really.

Being a teenage girl myself not too long ago, I feel that I know pretty well, what fans would have wanted to read (and it's also what I would have wanted to read). I'm going to skip how convenient it was that Edward explained about the 'Immortal Children' right at the start of the book because that's not the point that I'm making.

First of all, the honeymoon - was all very romantic and cheesy, but lacked physical interaction between Edward & Bella. I'm aware that it had some but not much overall. I realise that Breaking Dawn is targeted to a younger audience than myself, but a little more description of the kissing, touching and clothing removal wouldn't have done any harm whatsoever! To skip all of that completely wasn't fair. It's something that thousands of us have been waiting for since the very first book!

Ok secondly, the Bella being pregnant storyline would have been SO much better if we could have seen Edward being all attentive towards Bella throughout her pregnancy. Having Edward do things like rub her feet, run out in the middle of the night to get things to make her more comfortable and to comfort her when she was all over-emotional would have been amazing to read about. Everyone would have adored 'perfect husband Edward' but instead we got 'depressed pessimistic Edward'. Stephenie speeding up the pregnancy didn't allow for any of that and I found myself disappointed that we didn't get to see it. There was SUCH potential there that Stephenie didn't even explore.

Thirdly, going back to the 'perfect husband Edward' side of things. Was it me, or did he not really interact with Nessie much? If I ever pictured Edward as a father, I would have pictured him as being really sweet and caring towards his child and making sure he did everything with her that he could. It's written that he loves her, but we never really saw any evidence that pointed that way. It's the same thing with Jacob, we saw Quil & Claire adorableness in the book (which I adored because I LOVE Quil/Claire) but we didn't really see any of that with Jacob & Nessie. There's something really heartwarming about seeing a strong, powerful man interacting in a gentle and affectionate way with a baby, but we didn't get to see it. I would even have wanted Bella to have a bit more interaction with her, it almost feels like Edward and Bella just dumped her off on other people all the time. Sure, they SAID that they loved her etc, but they didn't do THAT much to show it to us. Stephenie again avoided a lot of this by speeding Nessie's growth up. I understand that including such things could have potentially made the book a lot longer, but when you consider the length of the end interaction with the Volturi that never really amounted to anything in the end, I would have been much happier if Stephenie would have cut that part shorter instead and included some of the things that I have mentioned.

Basically, I think that what I'm saying is that Edward didn't seem to do much, he was like a silent shadow without offering any opinions or support and it was a shame to read that, after how attentive and adorable he was with Bella in the first three books. We should have heard more of his thoughts and had more interaction between the characters.

Does anyone agree or disagree with this? Does anyone have any similar opinions about other aspects of the book?

I love meeting people from online! The last week or so I met a lot of friends from Fan Forum.

On Sunday 3rd of August I picked up likethesun from a service station because she'd been on a Doctor Who trip around the UK with nad2912, coffeeaddicted and fairyfloss_love it was great to meet them all. It was a brief meeting, but they all seemed really nice!

Then likethesun came back to my house and we hung out, watched High School Musical, played online and made a banner (an inside joke on the Graphics Team on Fan Forum) to hold up at the airport when we went to pick up fojbe & lostemilie the next day. We had to both had to wake up really early to go and meet fojbe at the airport - she landed at 7:35. Unfortunately we must have missed the bus (or it didn't show up) and we were quite late. fojbe laughed so hard when she saw our banner, we had coffee/hot chocolate before heading back to my house on the bus. After having lunch (English cooked breakfast), we went into town to buy Breaking Dawn (as it was released that day). However, when we got there, they had only held one copy of it. I said that I had reserved 4 and the guy checked on the computer which said I had. There were 4 copies there, but when I insisted that he give me those copies, he told us that they had already been pre-paid for. I said that I would have gladly pre-paid for them if I had been told that would have ensured that I receive the 4 copies that I ordered. I argued for a while before requesting that they give me the one copy they put by for me with a discount because THEY had admitted making a mistake and asked to see the manager. The guy went to ask the manager and came back and told me that he wouldn't give me a discount, so I bought the book they had. We checked the other book stores in town, but it had sold out everywhere veh! Then in the evening my Mum took us to go collect lostemilie.

The next day I took them sight seeing in my home town and we finally managed to get 3 more copies of Breaking Dawn. Then in the evening we had a movie night - we watched The Princess Bride, ate ice cream and drank Vodka & Orange juice.

On the Wednesday we went up to London to meet jj_jule & isabell16 who came over from Germany for a few days. All of us (likethesun, lostemilie, fojbe, jj_jule and isabell16) are on the Graphics Team at Fan Forum so we all knew each other. It was great - we did a little sight seeing and a little shopping had lunch and dinner before we parted ways. We were all really tired I think from walking around.

On Thursday we went to Chessington World of Adventures. likethesun and I were the only ones who wanted to go on the "big" rides 'The Vampire' and 'Dragon's Fury' so fojbe and lostemilie looked around the zoo while we went on them. Though they did go on a few of the baby rides with us. ;)

On Friday likethesun, fojbe and lostemilie moved to a travel lodge in the next town over because my Dad & Brother were supposed to come back (though they decided to stay in Europe until Monday evening) we went shopping and then to see The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. It was an ok movie, but not brilliant and it really missed Rachel Weisz

Saturday we went up to London again and did more sight seeing/shopping. I bought a new purple jacket for only £19.99, I love it and a bunch of dvds (as usual - I updated the list).

Sunday we hung out, watched tv and read Breaking Dawn at my house - we didn't do much, but my Mum cooked us roast dinner. On Monday, I met the girls at the station and went off to the airport. I waited while they checked in on their respective flights and sadly said goodbye. :( I'm really going to miss them! I wish that they didn't live so far away and I hope that I see them all again.

So Edward gets Bella pregnant and they have a baby called Nessi who Jacob imprints on?

I must admit that I laughed at first, but if it did happen, I wouldn't be broken up about it at all. It sounds a bit extreme when you say it all at once, but I trust that Stephenie would lead up to it properly. She's not the best of authors, but her work is entertaining and hooked me in 3 times before.

Perhaps I've just read far too much fan fiction in my life? Because that's what it sounds like to me. I think I'd read it and enjoy it.

What is it that people have the biggest problem with? I'm not sure if I understand. At least Jacob can still have a part of Bella in the form of her daughter and who's to say that they will have a romantic relationship? When werewolves imprint they become whatever that person needs from them.

And the name Nessi? I think it's cute.

Relax people! If you enjoyed the other books, chances are that you'll enjoy this one too.

The Dark Knight

Um... what's all the fuss about?

I thought it was a good film, but not THAT good. I found myself a little bit bored about half way through and also felt that it went on for far too long.

The car chases and fight scenes were very... eh... same old same old. Rodney suggested that perhaps we just see too many films (We have been going to the cinema every week for the last couple of months).

I didn't feel too upset when Maggie Gyllenhaal got blown up and was it me, or did she look really rough? :S

Christian Bale didn't do much for me apart from crack me up every time he did his gruff 'batman' voice and I felt that they could have stretched the 'Two-Face' storyline into another movie instead of resolving it in this one.

However, I will say that Heath Ledger was AMAZING! He blew me away with his performance. It's worth watching it just to see him as The Joker.

University results

I got my University results through the post today...

I PASSED! WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO! :D :D :D I HAVE A BA DEGREE IN DIGITAL MEDIA

And when I say I've passed, I think that I've passed with a 2:2 already and I haven't even done my exam! YAY!!!!!! :D :D :D

The last one is worth twice as much as the other two. It actually says that I have failed Independant Digital Media, but that's because I haven't done the exam for that module which is worth 50%. Because the Independent Digital Media comes up as failed, I haven't passed with honors - but hopefully I'll pass the exam and get hons. :D But if I don't - I still have a degree!

I emailed my lecturer because I'm still not sure what it all means, it's all very complicated... but I don't think there's any way that I won't have passed. :D Unless a failed module means you can't but I'm pretty sure you're allowed to fail a module and still pass.

LMAO Ok there is just a GOLDMINE of funny Stargate videos on youtube, but this one is just completely made of awesome! I LOVE Amanda that she was able to keep a straight face through doing this - she's fantastic! It's made me realise what an amazingly fantastic actress she really is.

I love Amanda Tapping so much but... I can't decide whether her English accent is awful or not. It just sounds really off to me, but I'm not sure if it's because I'm used to her speaking with her American accent or... I'm also not loving her brown hair so much. Being blonde suits her more definitely I think. I liked the use of hand motions when they were planning attack - just like Stargate hehe!

I'm really enjoying Sally's SG-1 Fan Fiction (thanks so much for the rec samjackshiplove!)

Personal Reasons was really funny:

"This is incredible!" Daniel breathed, shining his wristlight up along the edge of the plinth they had discovered. "It looks like some kind of alter, although the statuary is gone. It must have been down here aeons."

"Aeons?" Jack asked. "How long's an aeon?"

Daniel flashed him a dark stare. "A long time," he said.

Work
Work was quite boring this weekend - there were hardly any people in so my boss Jason and the tech guy Martin played around online a bit. We looked up some dvds and realised that there was a sale on in HMV so Jason sent me out to go buy some... I bought 'Twelve Monkey's', 'O Brother Where Art Thou' & 'POTC: AWE' (I had to re-buy it because my cousin has my original copy).

Then we looked at celebrity lookalikes online... I'm so slow sometimes lol we saw one called Jaws (obviously from Bond) but I said "OMG! IS HE GONNA LOOK LIKE A SHARK?!" lol!

Oh and I told Jason that one of my colleagues Holly doesn't do anything and she annoys me so he sent her home when she complained about being tired when she showed up for work. Hehehehe I am SO the favorite!

I worked 40 hours last week! Yay money!

Random thought
I think that it is very cool that loads of the characters on Doctor Who have the same last name as me (Harriet Jones, Ianto Jones, Martha Jones) ;).

I just found out that Don S Davis died 2 days ago! :( This is a very very sad thing... I was surprised to find myself in tears when I heard the news.

For those who don't know, he played General Hammond in Stargate SG-1 for 7 years and he was such a lovable character. Hammond of Texas will live on in the hearts of his fans.

My sincere condolences to his friends and family.

I've been noticing that Jack is an aggressive bastard in pretty much all fic I've read so far... why is that? That's not how he seems in the show to me... Any sweet Jack fic recs would be good, but I'll read anything. So far I think JenCamp is my favorite author, but I've read all of her stuff.

I went to the job interview yesterday.

I went to London in the car with Dad and went to his work for a couple of hours because the interview wasn't until 11:00am and then I got the tube from where he works (Hampstead) to where Mum works (Moorgate) for the interview - It went ok, I answered some questions well I think, but others I didn't do so good at. A couple I had to admit that I couldn't answer... They asked me "what weaknesses do you have that could effect your performance in this job?" seriously! how am I supposed to answer something like that? :S

Then I had to do a 'written test' for 30 mins and I'm not sure I understood the question properly so I may have done the whole thing wrong. lol!

Then the lady who gave me the test said "you're Angela's daughter aren't you?" and she took me over to Mum's office and introduced me to all of Mum's colleagues lol! I felt like I'd been introduced to parents colleagues all day first at Dad's work and then Mum's. :P

I got the impression though that the job was a lot more about writing content and updating a website instead of designing things, so I'm not sure if I'm suited to it after all and won't mind at all if I don't get offered it... plus then I can have a fun summer with just my part-time work ;).

I've managed to get down to 9mg of Steroids without any major problems which is a relief. I'm still self conscious about my face, but I feel like the end is in sight now and that I will be able to get off the steroids in... 9 weeks... ok so that sounds really long to me now *pout*.

I'm pretty sure I've gained back all of the weight I lost this year *cry* (even though Mum won't let me weigh myself) I'm so annoyed because I've been eating really healthily - salad every day for lunch - and I've been exercising (walking to work and back most days, swimming once a week and Pilates once a week). Mum says it's just that the steroids cause the weight gain and I shouldn't let it get to me. But still, it's disheartening.

Last night Jack, Rodney and I went to see The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Jack gave me a new purse (purple metallic) for my Christmas present bless him! He'd been meaning to give it to me for quite a while. ;) Then we went to Nandos for dinner before heading over to the cinema.

When we were little, my brother and I used to get in Mum & Dad's bed on the weekends and they read us the entire Chronicles of Narnia and even though I don't really remember the story lines, I seem to love them because of this.

I enjoyed the film, but it wasn't fantastic - I like the cinematography etc and all in all it is a very beautiful film, but it was lacking something... I'm not sure what. I'm looking forward to the next one in 2010 - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - though. Susan is definitely the best, she's very cool and Lucy is just really really annoying. Oh and Prince Caspian is hot! ;)

I wore new wide-legged capris & my new Birkenstocks and when Rodney came to pick me up he kept asking if I was sure I'd be warm enough and I got annoyed and assured him I was, but then after the movie, it was raining outside and I was FREEZING and Rodney was like "oh are you cold?" and I was like *teeth chattering* "No, I'm perfectly warm thank you!" :P

Does anyone have 'The Call' by Regina Spektor that they could send me?

It totally didn't click that Michael Welch who plays Mike Newton on Twilight, was the same actor who plays young, clone Jack O'Neill in Stargate SG-1 Fragile Balance! I just love when my fandoms collide!

Just watched this one today! I think my favorite thing is either Teal'c ponytail or Hammond and Jack swapping ranks (Hammond being a Colonel and taking orders from Jack and Jack being a General and giving Hammond orders)

I love that Walter got to fight a little bit in this one. See! He's not just the guy who dials/opens the Stargate!

Daniel: Uh oh... I think I'm dead.

Jack: "I think this is where you all wish me good luck."
With that he walks away.
Sam: "Jack..."
Sam walks over to him, they hug, and briefly kiss in the background. In the foreground, Danny looks at Cat.

Carrie shakily leads them the rest of the way until they come to a little purple cottage. Carrie knocks lightly at the door. Donna notices that The Doctor also looks pale and shaken, though she knows it's for other reasons.
Carrie: Jal! Are you home?!
A girl answers the door.
Girl: Hey Carrie come on in!
The girl gestures for them all to enter the purple cottage. Inside is another girl reading a book.
Carrie: Hey Ila! this is The Doctor & Donna. Doctor, Donna, this is Ila & June.
Doctor: Nice to meet you two.
Donna: Hi guys! I'm Donna!
Carrie: Ila is... Jal's daughter.

Donna: ROTFL
Doctor: Why am I on the floor?
Donna: You... LOL you...
Doctor: Oh fabulous! Did I faint again?
Donna: *gets warmed up* Wiki wiki wild...

Other short haired girl: Hi... I'm Kalia... I take it that's Jal's 'Doctor' friend she constantly talks about?
Donna: Yeah, looks like.
Carrie: Good to see you Kalia!

Carrie goes over to Jal who is still clinging to a frozen Doctor with her head on his chest and a huge smile on her face.

She tries to work out a way to get Jal off of the Doctor so she can give her a hug... gives up and hugs her as she is... still attached. Then she turns to Donna.
Carrie: Kalia, Jal and I are really good friends - often inseparable! Kalia and Jal live together.
Donna: Aw bless.
The Doctor seems to unfreeze slightly.
Doctor: Jal!
He wraps his arms around her and kisses her on the top of her head.
Doctor: I missed you so much!
Jal: I missed you too! I knew you'd come back some day though!
Doctor: so... is Ila our daughter?
Jal: Uh no... I adopted her.
The Doctor turns to Ila
Doctor: Why you little...
Ila: What? *innocent* What did I do?

Cut to the Shadowy Figure around the cauldron again!
Shadowy Figure: bwahahahaha! Soon they'll all see!

Donna: Hey Kalia! - As Jal is otherwise indisposed what's that noise and what's behind this curtain?
She pushes the purple curtain aside.
Shadowy Figure: bwahahaha I'll show them!
Shadowy Figure looks up and notices Donna looking at him...
Donna: OMG! What are you doing?
Shadowy Figure pushes off dark purple cloak and steps out of the shadows.

I saw a girl in town today - Jubeda - who used to be one of my best friend's at primary school and in the early years of secondary school. It was weird, we had a quick chat and then she had to go. I felt all self-conscious because I didn't put any makeup on today or straighten my hair or anything and then with my face being all moon-like... I said to her "it's a bad day to meet up with me, I look awful" lol.

I went to a swimming lesson today. I already know how to swim well, but the instructor (Tracy) does a fitness regime for us (mum & bro went too). It's good because if I went swimming on my own, I would just probably do breast stroke backwards and forwards, but Tracy really pushes you. She times us and tells us to beat our previous time etc.

I currently have 2 holes in each of my ears for earrings, but I don't wear them too often because...

When I first had my ears pierced (I was 9), I got them done and came home and Sophie (my dog) sat there staring at them for ages and then suddenly launched foward and pulled one out of my ear. LOL! Then my Mum had to pretty much re-pierce the ear with another earring because it closed up really quickly. The only problem is that it's always been a bit lower than the other side which wasn't so noticeable when I just had the one, but then when I got my second (the second holes are even on each side) you can notice a bigger gap between them.

So today I went into Claire's (a chain store that does ear piercing) and asked them what they would suggest I do. They suggested that I get the one that my mum didn't have to re-pierce done again, but lower to match the other one. They said that if I got the lower one done higher, there was a change that both holes would join together and the earring might drop back down, whereas if I get the other one lower, gravity wouldn't let that happen. Does anyone have any experience with this or any suggestions? I might take a picture... What do you think? It's not REALLY bad, when you look at each ear separately you don't notice it, it's only if you look at one ear and then the other. I'd very much appreciate any thoughts or opinions on this.

I'm also probably going to get a third piercing in each ear at some point in the summer and was thinking about getting them all done together... Maybe they'll give me a discount. ;)

I applied for a 'website assistant' job at the Asthma Charity my Mum works at. We didn't tell them that Mum works there yet because we're not sure if it will work for or against me... but I got short listed and I have an interview next Thursday. I've never had one before, so I have no idea if I'll do well or not. :P

Stargate SG-1: 1x09 The Torment of Tantalus

Daniel: Tantalus was a king in Greek Mythology, banish to Hades, forced to stand in water that receded when he tried to drink.

It was cool to see that they did an episode with more information about the Stargate programme before and it was great that Catherine was in this episode. I liked her in the movie.

I enjoyed seeing Jack on more friendly terms with her - it shows how far he's come since his depressed moody Kurt Russell - Jack O'Neill. ;)

Jack: All right. Basic survival training. We know what we have. What do we need?
Teal'c: We have the Stargate. We need the Dial Home Device.
Jack: ...Thank you, Teal'c.

I loved that Jack risked himself for Sam by grabbing her and throwing her down the stars *love sigh*

Plus RDA was very sexy when he says "~~Jen~~ Catherine, hug me." *fangirls*

Stargate SG-1: 1x10 Bloodlines
A friend of mine on Fan Forum mentioned that they don't like the Teal'c-centric episodes as much as the others ones... I agree to an extent, because they always tend to purely focus on him and not much else, but I do love the T man.

Teal'c: They are friends. Colonel O'Neill. Captain Carter. Daniel Jackson. Warriors of great skill and cunning.

Bra'tac: You, you are among the warriors who defeated the palace guard at Chulak? A human woman?
Sam: Hey, I'll have you know I kicked my…
Bra'tac: (to Danny) And you? A warrior of great skill and cunning? I could snap you like kindling! How could you bring these hashack with you?
Jack: Hey! Hey! Hey! Who you calling a hassock? [he turns to Daniel] What's a hassock?

I think Teal'c's wife in this is a different actress, I don't remember her looking like she did in this one... she's purdy! His son is definitely the same though - it's funny to see him so young. :P

I find it ridiculously adorable when Jack & Sam salute together. I think it's because Teal'c & Daniel don't do it so it's like their own special little thing... (yeah I know it's not. :P)

Stargate SG-1: 1x11 Fire and Water

LOVED Sam screaming for Jack and him hugging her tight! This calls for a picture! Or perhaps an animation!

I of course knew that Daniel wasn't dead from the beginning, so that took some of the drama out of it.

I just adore how when Jack smashes General Hammond's car window with a hockey stick, it totally doesn't phase him (Hammond) and he has a whole, calm conversation with Jack before saying:

Hammond: You know that's my car.
Jack: You should get that window fixed.

It's always nice to see SG-1 in their civilian clothes - LOVED Teal'c's hat. ;)

OH! And when Jack dismisses the 'mood music':

Jack: Catchy tune. Mind telling me what this mood music is all about?

by saying that it doesn't work and then he turns to look at Teal'c who it is obviously working on... LMAO!

And in that place there was Omoroca. A women who came forth from the Heavenly egg. Who walked among men by day but at night she would retreat to the great sea to sleep. One of the beings called Onuses. The God Belus, came down on to Babylon. On to the place of Omoroca and cut the woman asunder! Oh God he killed her!

Ya know "what fate Omoroca" is something we say a lot in our house... ;) Mostly just randomly.

Stargate SG-1: 1x12 The Nox

I think I remember someone telling me that Sam yells Jack's name when he gets shot in this episode, but I didn't hear it. :(

Another of the more 'famous' Stargate episodes... I can never get over the fact that Armin Shimmerman is one of The Nox. I always think "oh look, there's Principal Snyder with Moss on his head" :P

Hehe!

I find The Nox child rather annoying - you must be an idiot to just walk up to Apophis and say your name at him... because he looks like such a friendly and welcoming individual.

The very young do not always do what they are told.

Oh and I think that the Fenri are very cool... as is The Nox city in the sky.

Stargate SG-1: 1x13 Hathor

Hathor: We are the mother of all Pharaohs
Jack: Of course we are

Also I noticed... Sam always laughs at Jack's jokes hehe - yeah stroke his ego Sam! That'll work!

Aw bless and Sam wanted Jack to back her up and she looked so hurt when he didn't :( but he's under Hathor's spell!

I think it's very awesome how the women of Stargate Command teamed up together to take on Hathor and I love how Doc Frasier got so into it and even made out with a soldier as a distraction. I love Janet - she's very very cool and lovable!

Sam: Feel like a woman, Doc?
Janet: Oh yeah.

Sam: It must be a pretty powerful drug Hathor's using. Colonel O'Neill is Special Forces trained to fight mind control techniques.

Do you reckon Jack told her that to impress her? ;)

Plus how adorable is it that Sam freaked out when she knocked out General Hammond?

Janet: Don't worry about it. I can fix him up good as new when this things over.

I sort of feel that this is another filler episode... but it was nice that Shak'l got sorted out once and for all. ;)

Jack: (to Danny) Why does it always have to be a religious thing with you? Maybe they're coming from a swap meet.

I adore how Sam & Danny try to be nice about telling Jack that he's not best suited to represent Teal'c:

Danny: You sure you're up to this?
Jack: Why? You don't think I am?
Daniel: Well, it's - it's just that I've never actually heard you referred to as a diplomat. I think, um, antagonist was the word used.
Jack: But I'm his commanding officer. It comes with the territory.
Sam: Wouldn't Daniel be better at it, I mean, being a linguist and a cultural expert? Sir.
Jack: All right, we'll all do it. How's that?
Daniel: That's fine.
Sam: Co, co-counsels. Works for me.

I met up with afrocurl in London today - we just walked around for a little while and went to the London Aquarium (the fish were cool). It's always fun to meet people from Fan Forum. She was really nice, we didn't have any awkward silence moments at all and I can imagine we'd get to be pretty good friends if we got to see each other more often. ;) I hope we get to meet again Roz! Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures of us together because Roz has camera problems and my Dad had pinched our camera this morning. :(

Stargate SG-1: 1x08 Thor's Hammer

This is one of those Stargate episodes that you will always remember! It had stuck in my mind, but it was great to watch it again.

Jack: Let's just find this Hall of Mohair, or whatever it's called.

It's nice to see that SG-1 care about Teal'c enough at this point that they are willing to endanger a planet and destroy possibly useful technology to help him.

Teal'c: Are you considering the same tactic as I?
Jack: Teal'c, the cliché is, "Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" The answer is yes.

I love the episodes which discuss mythology. I used to want to be an Archaeologist at one point and things like that fascinate me. I also think that it's a great introduction to Thor & The Asgard.

I kinda feel that there wasn't enough of Sam in this episode and also that the scenes with her and Daniel were just filler really.

Oh and cronoslenk just showed me this yummy picture of Henry Cavill from The Tutors, and I thought I would share it with you all too. ;)

cronoslenk and I used to talk for about 4 or 5 hours every day around 2003. We met on Fan Forum and we're well matched in thoughts, naughtiness and our passion for taking over the world... ;) it's nice to catch up with him, but it makes me all nostalgic! He used to make me laugh my arse off for those 4/5 hours. *sigh*

You know how I said that Sam seems to have a type of man after I watched 'The First Commandment'? Well it looks like Jack has a type too. ;) Sara looks a LOT like Sam and they even have the same haircut.

I liked when the real Jack waltzed through the Stargate...

Jack: (looking up at the camera): Come on, get me outta here! (grabs a chair, stands on it and puts his face in the camera) Tell you what, let me put it nicely... Get me the hell out of here!
Hammond: If that isn't O'Neill, I wanna know who the hell we're looking at.

I felt really sorry for Teal'c when he asked to see Earth with Jack and got shot down. Sometimes Teal'c is just so damn cute. It was really funny when he discovered the TV and didn't like the noisy rock music.

Hammond: Teal'c you'll have to leave that here.(referring to the staff weapon).
Teal'c: (DEAD Serious!)I have seen your world...I will need it.
Hammond: Can't let you take your weapon, Teal'c. (reaching and taking it from Teal'c). You, all of you will be operating in public so you can't do or say anything that reveals the existence of the SGC or the Stargate. (Hammond hands Teal'c a Chicago baseball cap.)
Teal'c: Chicago...the windy city...home of the Black Hawks, the Bulls and the White Sox.
Jack: Don't forget the Cubs.

I'm also loving Sam & Daniel's friendship. I don't think I noticed so much the first time I watched it. I guess they have an affinity to one another because they're both 'nerds'. ;)

Teal'c's staff weapon is charging and fires on a cluster of crystals in a box. Alarms go off. Sam, Daniel and Teal'c approach the pieces of blasted crystal.
Sam: There's a good one.
Daniel picks it up with gloves and large tongs.
Voice over the speaker: What's going on in there?
Teal'c: You received permission for me to fire my staff weapon in the gate room?
Sam: Oh...yeah.
Daniel: Absolutely.

The middle bit of it when fake Jack goes to see Sara was a tad too slow. I didn't love this episode, I thought it was a bit lame how the crystal turned into Charlie and Sara & Jack's reaction to seeing their son again was a bit... off. I feel that if it had been me, I wouldn't be able to stand looking at him... plus you would've thought that Sara would've been a bit more emotional upon seeing him than she was.

I thought that the CGI on the crystals was very good - particularly for 1997 or whenever it aired. Come to think of it, all of the CGI has been great so far... I noticed when I re-watched Buffy which came out around the same time, that it wasn't as good as I remembered, but so far on Stargate is has been.

I watched the whole first season of Army Wives this week - I really quite enjoyed it. Can't wait to find out what happens next! Does anyone know when it's coming back?

I ordered a new pair of shoes online today and also spent £160 shopping with my Mum. EEK! I bought a skirt, 3 pairs of shorts/cropped trousers & 3 t-shirts.

Hot understudy Joseph (Alistair Brammer) performed again today *love sigh*. Apparently he was also on 'Any Dream Will Do' the tv show too, but he didn't get much further than the final 20.

I made a couple more friends at the bigger theatre I work at (the one I don't like so much). One of them - Nicola - was talking to hot understudy Joseph and invited him to stay at her house so that he didn't have to travel to London after every show and he actually took her up on it! Her parents were quite shocked when she called them and said "oh by the way, we're having a man I met at work stay with us for a week" but apparently he got on really well with her parents and is really nice. Lol! She's mad!

I was supposed to work on the bar today, but I got switched to Stewarding (woo hoo!) so I got to see the show again. My boss called and asked if I could work tomorrow as well, and it was after I spent all that money, so I thought I had better. ;)

Stargate SG-1: 1x05 The First Commandment

I know he's insane and everything, but Jonas was quite like Jack - it appears that Sam has a certain taste in men. ;)

Jack: Carter? I want you to take Conner back through the Stargate, report to General Hammond what's happened here.
Sam: No, sir.
Jack: No, Sir?
Sam: If you are going after Captain Hanson, I should go with you, I can get to him.
Jack: Look, Captain, either were bringing him back to face a court- marshal, or not. I think we both no what the 'not' means.
Sam: I know him, Colonel.
Jack: Yeah, that would be the problem.
Sam: I gave him back the ring because I know him. I know how he thinks, how he operates.
Jack: How he likes to play god?
Sam: Look, I don't understand how that could happen, any more then you do, but if SG-1 is going after him then I am going with you.
Conner: Wait a minute, you, you, you can't do that, there hundreds, probably thousands of them. H-he's their god. They'll die for him, they'll kill for him in a heartbeat.
Jack: That's not your problem, now I need someone to report back to the General, and that is you.
Conner: No, sir.
Jack: *incredulous* No sir? Does it say Colonel anywhere on my uniform?

I love it when people don't follow Colonel Jack O'Neill's orders. :P He always has a funny retort.

There were a lot of 'Wizard of Oz' references in this episode - "We're off to see the Wizard!" "To Oz!" and "So, any indigenous lions, tigers or bears I should lie awake worrying about?"

I also loved when Daniel asked Teal'c to smile to comfort the Cave dwellar.

Daniel: No! It's okay! He's friendly, he's a friend. Smile, look friendly.

Jack: You're going to have to work on that a little bit.
